On 22-23 April 2026, SYMBA took part in the ECESP Annual Conference 2026, held in Brussels under the title βA competitive and fair circular Europe: The ambition at the heart of the single market.β
The event provided a high-level platform to discuss the ambitions, scope, and policy direction of the upcoming Circular Economy Act, placing it within the broader EU policy framework, investment priorities, and global developments. The first day, led by the European Commission, focused on policy discussions, while the second day, organised by the European Economic and Social Committee, explored implementation on the ground.
SYMBA was present at the conference alongside colleagues from ICLEI at a dedicated stand, engaging with participants and sharing insights on the projectβs activities and results. The conference once again proved to be a valuable opportunity to connect with circular economy practitioners and exchange perspectives on current and future legislation, as well as on the practical challenges and opportunities of implementing circular economy principles.
The Commission continues to monitor the bioeconomyβs development through the EU Knowledge Centre for Bioeconomy, where SYMBA appears within the bio-based textiles section.Β In addition, the SYMBA Policy Brief has been included in the KCB library and highlighted among the latest news on the relevant policy topic page, reinforcing the projectβs contribution to the European bioeconomy and circular economy landscape.
