On 29 October 2025, SYMBA took part in the final event of the BioReCer project, titled β€œTrust, Traceability & Certification – Valorising Biological Feedstocks,” held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The event gathered stakeholders and representatives from several EU-funded initiatives to present the final results of BioReCer and to exchange knowledge on the valorisation of biological feedstocks and the assessment of their environmental performance.

SYMBA was represented by Marta Pereira (CETAQUA), who contributed to a roundtable discussion and presented the poster β€œAssessing the sustainability and circularity of the bio-based industry: Insights and lessons learnt.” During her intervention, Marta highlighted SYMBA’s work under Work Package 4, focusing on how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is being used within the project to monitor the performance of industrial symbiosis solutions. Throughout the debate, participants addressed several challenges and opportunities related to assessing sustainability and circularity in the bio-based industry, for example, how to practically apply assessment frameworks and how to translate them into industrial reality.

SYMBA also displayed a the roll-up banner, ensuring greater visibility for the project throughout the event.

The roundtable featured other European projects, including CERNET, GREEN-LOOP, and BIORADAR, promoting a fruitful exchange of perspectives on how to improve sustainability practices and strengthen trust and traceability across the bio-based value chain.
