Yesterday, the SYMBA project was an active part of the Final Event of SUSTRACK, organised in collaboration with EuBioNet.

The event marked the conclusion of three years of work under SUSTRACK and gathered more than 70 participants, including researchers, project representatives, and policymakers, fostering an inspiring atmosphere of cross-fertilisation and knowledge exchange.

The event opened with a pitch from SUSTRACK’s Project Officer, Michael SchΓ€ffer, followed by a presentation by Project Manager GΓΌlşah YΔ±lan on the project’s main results and exploitable assets, effectively setting the stage for the discussions ahead.

During the Projects2Projects roundtable, representatives from eight concluded or nearly concluded initiatives, BIOTRANSFORM, STAR4BBS, SUSTCERT4BIOBASED, HARMONITOR, CEE2ACT, ROBIN, 3CO, and BIORADAR,Β shared their key results and lessons learned. This inspiring exchange highlighted the value of mutual learning and collaboration among EU-funded projects.

The Policy2Projects session, moderated by our coordinator Prof. Piergiuseppe Morone, brought together policymakers from the European Commission and CBE JU,Β including Silvia Maltagliati, Pierre-Mathieu P., Jiannis Kougoulis, and NicolΓ³ Giacomuzzi-Moore. They shared forward-looking recommendations in the context of the ongoing revision of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, supporting projects in aligning their activities with future policy priorities.

Finally, the Open Mic session gave the floor to us, giving us the opportunity to introduce actions and results achieved so far. Also other newly funded and ongoing projects (ESCIB, BioFairNet, Stand4Bio, RISERS, and WoodStock) had the opportunityΒ to introduce their work and connect with the broader bioeconomy community.

Overall, the event was rich in engagement and exchange: projects were eager to explore each other’s achievements and policy expectations, while policymakers showed great interest in project outcomes. This dynamic dialogue truly embodied cross-fertilisation at its best.

We warmly congratulate the SUSTRACK team for the excellent organisation and for the high level of participation and engagement achieved throughout the event and look forward to continuing the exchange with the bioeconomy network in the future.
