From 10 to 12 June 2025, the SYMBA project was presented at the Waste Management Europe (WME) Exhibition & Conference in Bologna, Italy, one of the leading European platforms dedicated to waste management and circular economy solutions.
The event convened a wide range of stakeholders, including public authorities, industry representatives, technology providers, and policymakers, to discuss and advance key topics such as circular economy innovations, climate and waste strategies, policy and governance frameworks, technological advancements, and logistical solutions for waste operations. The programme combined a high-level exhibition with expert panels, innovation sessions, technical talks, and site visits.

SYMBA was represented at the event by Stefano Cisternino, Erica Locatelli, and Jon Jonoski of the ICLEI Europe team, who actively engaged with participants from across Europe. The project was prominently featured at the ICLEI Europe booth, where the team introduced SYMBA’s objectives and forthcoming activities through direct discussions and networking with institutional, municipal, and industrial stakeholders.

The project logo was prominently displayed on ICLEIβs booth poster and official leaflet, ensuring consistent visibility throughout the event. These visual elements, together with one-on-one conversations, helped position SYMBA as a relevant initiative within the European circular economy landscape.
The team also attended a number of relevant sessions focused on digital innovation for circularity, local policy implementation, and funding mechanisms for circular economy projects. Insights gained from these discussions will be instrumental in informing the next phases of SYMBAβs implementation and outreach strategy.

Participation in WME 2025 provided an important opportunity to raise awareness about SYMBA, connect with aligned initiatives, and explore new avenues for collaboration and knowledge exchange within the broader circular economy ecosystem.
