We are proud to announce that ENCO has been officially selected among the key actors contributing to the establishment of the Italian Bioeconomy Innovation Hub, in recognition of its active engagement in strategic initiatives such as the EU-funded SYMBA project. The Hub is one of the 8 regional hubs created within the framework of BioINSouth, a project funded by the European Union to boost bioeconomy strategies in Southern Europe. ENCO’s involvement in the Campania Hub is a direct recognition of its long-standing expertise in the bioeconomy sector, and also for its leadership in the SYMBA project (Securing local supplY chains via the development of new Methods to assess the circularity and symbiosis of the Bio-bAsed industrial ecosystem). Funded under Horizon Europe, SYMBA is pioneering industrial symbiosis as a key enabler for the circular bio-based economy, with a multi-stakeholder approach that aligns closely with the objectives of BioINSouth.

The selection of ENCO and SYMBA reflects not only their technical and strategic contribution to the field, but also a strong regional anchoring: ENCO is headquartered in Naples, making it ideally placed to connect European-level innovation with the local industrial ecosystem and policy environment.

In recent years, the Campania Region has shown increasing commitment to promoting sustainable growth through bio-based innovation. The creation of the Italian Bioeconomy Hub in this region further consolidates its role as a frontrunner in Southern Italy, a territory that already hosts significant industrial bioeconomy initiatives.

The Hub will act as a central node for innovation in the circular bioeconomy, facilitating collaboration among academia, industry, public authorities, and civil society in line with the Quadruple Helix model. Its activities will be supported by a Multi-Actor Regional Group (MARG), ensuring scientific, technical and policy coherence.
