On 9 – 10 April 2025, SYMBA have had the honour to be showcased at the annual BIOEAST Bioeconomy Conference, which took place at the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Bucharest, Romania. The event brought together high-level stakeholders from all over Central and Eastern Europe and elsewhere to chart the way forward for research and innovation in the area of bioeconomy.

The SYMBA project coordinator, Antonietta Pizza, represented us at the poster session, booth no. 18, interacting directly with attendees to present insights into our activities in industrial symbiosis and circularity. During the event, many of those participating showed great interest in knowing how industrial symbiosis works and how it can help realize a greener, more resource-efficient future.

This experience reinforced one of our mission’s core elements: which, although industrial symbiosis is well known by experts and politicians, is still relatively unknown to the public. This ensures our determination to engage actively in events such as the BIOEAST Conference, where we can raise awareness, educate more people, and facilitate the adoption of more circular and sustainable practices in various sectors.

Our stay in Bucharest was not just an opportunity to network but also an occasion to discuss the role communication and outreach play. At SYMBA, we believe very much in developing industrial symbiosis through understanding, and that understanding is developed through dialogue.
