Did you know that Kalundborg, Denmark, is considered the birthplace of Industrial Symbiosis? In the 1970s, this small town revolutionized its industrial landscape by fostering cooperation among businesses to share resources, energy, and waste, laying the groundwork for today’s circular economy principles.

Inspired by Kalundborg’s transformative example, the SYMBA project aims to develop a comprehensive, user-friendly methodology to support the creation of Industrial Symbiosis networks across Europe. By focusing on zero-waste value chains and the efficient management of resources, SYMBA seeks to enable regions to replicate the success seen in Denmark and adapt it to their own local contexts.

Through our efforts, SYMBA’s team is committed to advancing the principles of circular economy and resource efficiency in industrial sectors, bringing a fresh perspective to sustainability that can be implemented across diverse industries and regions.
