Madrid, 4 December 2024
On 4 December 2024, the SYMBA project was proudly featured at the “Visiones -30 para afrontar los nuevos retos de la transiciΓ³n” event, held at CONAMA within IFEMA Madrid. This innovative session emphasized collaboration between businesses and emerging talent to tackle pressing sustainability challenges.
The session brought together 30 multidisciplinary participants to co-develop solutions for key environmental challenges, such as the circular economy, mobility, and emissions reduction. A unique “network of connections” activity set the collaborative tone, symbolizing the interdependence of ideas and participants through a physical web built with yarn.
SYMBA, as an EU-funded project, served as a practical case study during the event, exemplifying how European Commission support fosters innovation in industrial symbiosis. Alongside other projects like REDOL, SYMBA showcased its efforts to connect industries for mutual resource efficiency, driving the transition to a circular economy.

The event’s outcomes demonstrated the power of joint efforts, resulting in actionable proposals addressing the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability. Participating companies, including Aclima, Endesa, Mobility Lab Vitoria-Gasteiz, MOEVE, and MarquΓ©s del Atrio, presented challenges and engaged in solution-oriented dialogue, ranging from mobile phone recycling initiatives to COβ recovery in wine fermentation processes.
SYMBAβs inclusion highlighted its role in advancing sustainability through industrial cooperation, reinforcing the importance of EU-funded projects in achieving a resilient and sustainable future.
Next steps include evaluating proposed solutions for potential implementation, ensuring the event’s outcomes translate into impactful action.
