It’s both the question and the goal of the new SYMBA project, in which CIRCE – Technological Center plays a crucial role. The project aims to revolutionize the management of supply chains based on bioeconomy. With the mission to create an innovative method of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) replicable across the EU, SYMBA will implement an accessible artificial intelligence database. This tool will suggest Β innovative regional IS processes, ensuring local supply chains, a fair distribution of economic and social benefits, and a significant increase in the value of final products.Β

Development of Advanced Evaluation Methodologies

To achieve this, the Technology Center specialized in energy and sustainability, CIRCE, is developing advanced methodologies for environmental, economic, and social evaluation. These methodologies will allow for a precise and comprehensive assessment of the impact of Industrial Symbiosis solutions.

Monitoring and Validation Technologies

Additionally, CIRCE is implementing monitoring and validation technologies that ensure transparency and accountability at every stage of the project. These advanced systems enable continuous and detailed tracking of IS processes, guaranteeing that objectives are met, and resources are optimized. The ability to monitor and validate each step of the process is essential for the project’s success, providing valuable data to adjust and improve strategies. These activities are crucial for overcoming the challenges of the bioeconomy, such as waste reduction and resource optimization, and they open new opportunities to create more resilient and sustainable value chains. By implementing advanced technologies and innovative methodologies, CIRCE helps ensure that local supply chains are more efficient, equitable, and beneficial for all involved parties.

Alliance of Bioeconomy Sector Experts

SYMBA represents an exceptional opportunity for CIRCE to continue developing market-transferable solutions and to consolidate and share knowledge withΒ prestigious entities such as ENCP, CTB, CKIC, BBEPP, AIMPLAS, NVMT, CET, and ICLEI. The collaboration of these experts forms a strong alliance to influence sustainable policies and practices at the European level, positioning CIRCE and its partners as leaders in advancing towards a more sustainable and circular future.
